About us
The NYLT Leadership Symposium & Course Director’s Conference is a weekend program for youth and adult staff of National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) courses. The conference is designed for Course Directors, Scoutmasters, Course Advisers, Staff Advisers, Youth Course Leads, Senior Patrol Leaders, AYCL’s, and other youth staff who lead (or will lead) their council’s NYLT course. In short, everything you could want to know about starting or improving your Council NYLT program will be here.
NYLT Leadership Symposium
Join other Scouter’s dedicated to making your council NYLT courses the best leadership development program possible. Be part of the vibrant NYLT community of adults and youth staff who share their best practices while learning the latest in leadership development practices. Since 1996 This conference has evolved thanks to attendee feedback, enhancing the content we deliver. The NYLT Leadership Symposium fosters shared learning about all things NYLT, allowing you to share your course operations and elevate other NYLT courses with your insights.
Course Director’s Conference
While everyone is welcome, Course Directors and Backup Course Directors are required to attend a Course Director’s Conference (CDC) within 24 months of their course. Attendance is strongly recommended before your first staff development. The CDC provides a detailed overview of the syllabus, course requirements, and national expectations, along with the opportunity to connect with others preparing to deliver NYLT in their councils.
Classes & Workshops
There will be mutliple classes and workshops that will be available. The NYLT Leadership Symposium & Course Director’s Conference is built for collaboration between youth and adults in attendance. It takes many youth and adults in every council to build a sustaining youth-led NYLT culture. Bring your youth and adult leaders to maximize the benefits to your council NYLT program!
